Kelly Kampf lives in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Grace Space Hypnotherapy School in 2017. She has worked in private practice as a Psychotherapist since 2010 and as a Grief Therapist prior to that since 2004.
In answer to the question, Why did you decide to add Hypnotherapy to your existing Psychotherapy Practice?
“I love talk therapy but felt that I could only get so far with clients by only talking about their problems. I personally have experienced a lot of healing by doing body focused therapy as well as hypnotherapy and guided meditation and started out offering clients some guided meditation as part of their psychotherapy sessions. After attending a workshop with Grace on Inner child work, something clicked and I realized that hypnotherapy would be the perfect complement to talk therapy as it helped me personally make shifts that seemed almost effortless that talk therapy had not been able to really help with despite going for years. I realized that other people might have similar results and my experience has been that doing psychotherapy with clients in hypnosis helps them access emotions and memories that have never come up during regular psychotherapy sessions. I’m thrilled with the results! I love being a hypnotherapist because it allows me to be so creative. The possibilities are endless and it brings out the playful side in me and my clients. It reminds us that healing can be fun and imaginative and expansive. The world of psychology can be so pathologizing, but being a hypnotherapist makes me feel like I’m helping people move through pain in their lives by showing them more possibility rather than labeling them with some kind of disorder.”
KELLY BELIEVES THERAPY IS BASED ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THERAPIST AND CLIENT WHERE THE CLIENT IS THE EXPERT ON THEIR OWN LIVES.
Her goal is to provide a collaborative, non-judgmental space where clients can work to discover areas of their lives where they would like to change, grow, and gently uncover their true selves. Often, issues arise in the therapeutic environment that are also occurring in clients’ lives, and Kelly enjoys. Therefore, Kelly encourages each client to go at their own pace to ensure they feel they have found a safe place to truly explore their individuality.
KELLY’S APPROACH IS COLLABORATIVE, INTUITIVE, SOMATIC, GESTALT, AND ECLECTIC.
Kelly’s career began in 2003 as a social worker at Deborah Heart and Lung center in New Jersey. From there, she went on to work as an oncology social worker at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Kelly has an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Mary Washington and a Masters in Social Work. She also completed the three year post graduate training at the Gestalt Therapy Institute of Philadelphia.
